Vitamin D is necessary during pregnancy, breastfeeding, growth periods, and old age. It is used to prevent poor development of bones and teeth and rickets. It also helps improve calcium deficiency and aids in its supplementation. Therefore, Vitamin D plays an important role in maintaining bone health, supporting growth and development, and calcium metabolism, thus promoting skeletal health.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by patients with hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in the blood), sarcoidosis (a systemic inflammatory disease with unknown causes), or renal disease. Those allergic to any components of this medication, children under 12 months, individuals with kidney stones, or severe renal failure should also avoid this medication. This medication contains lactose, so patients with genetic issues like lactose intolerance or galactosemia should not take it. During treatment with this medication, avoiding concomitant use of phosphates, calcium salts, oral tetracycline antibiotics, and antacids is advisable. Children receiving medical treatment, those with significant sun exposure and normal diets, pregnant or breastfeeding women, premature infants, and infants should consult a specialist before taking this medication. Particularly, care is needed as Vitamin D can be transmitted to newborns through breast milk, causing hypercalcemia. Patients with heart or circulatory issues, renal impairment, hypoproteinemia, or those taking cardiac glycosides should also consult a specialist before use. If there is an allergic reaction to Yellow No. 4 (Tartrazine), caution is advised while taking this medication. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, low blood pressure, flushing, or irregular heartbeat occur during use, stop taking it immediately and consult a specialist. Excessive dosage may lead to gastrointestinal issues, hypernatremia, congestive heart failure, and edema, so caution is necessary. Long-term use may result in hypercalcemia and kidney stones, thus regular check-ups are required. Care should be taken as bone potassium levels can be dangerously high if taken with aldosterone antagonists or triamterene. If symptoms do not improve after taking the medication for more than one month, consult a specialist. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and method strictly, and when administering to children, adult supervision is necessary. It is advisable to avoid tannin-containing beverages like green tea or black tea before and after taking this medication. Store in a place out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry, sealed container. Additionally, to prevent misuse and maintain medication quality, it is important not to transfer to other containers.
