This medication is used for improving sputum expectoration difficulties that may commonly occur in respiratory diseases such as acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, laryngitis, sinusitis, and cystic fibrosis.

How to take

Adult dose

Acute conditions 200 mg once, 3 times a day Chronic conditions 200 mg once, 2 times a day

Child dose

Acute conditions Ages 6 to 14: 200 mg once, 2 times a day Chronic conditions Ages 6 to 14: 100 mg once, 3 times a day Cystic fibrosis Ages 6 and older: 200 mg once, 3 times a day

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by individuals who are allergic to this drug or any of its components. It is also unsafe for those with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum to take this medication. Children under 2 years of age should not use this medication. This medication contains lactose, so individuals with a genetic condition that prevents lactose digestion should avoid taking this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a physician before taking this medication and should only use it if necessary. Breastfeeding women should also consult a healthcare professional before taking this medication since it is uncertain if the drug passes into breast milk. If gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, mouth inflammation, heartburn, or diarrhea occur while taking this medication, it should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted. Rarely, symptoms such as hives, itching, rash, headache, tinnitus, or bronchospasm in asthma patients may occur, so caution is advised. Infrequently, increased heart rate or high blood pressure may occur, and very rarely, severe allergic reactions may appear. If breathing difficulties occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical advice should be sought. This medication contains specific dyes, so individuals who are allergic to these components should take caution when using it. When taken with antibiotics, it is advisable to maintain at least a 2-hour interval between the medications as it may reduce the effectiveness of the antibiotic. When using this medication in solution form, it should not be mixed with other drugs. This medication should be stored out of the reach of children and kept in its original container to prevent deterioration or misuse.
