Precautions

This medication is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by destroying the cell walls of certain bacteria. It should not be used in patients who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this drug. Patients who are allergic to this drug or similar classes of antibiotics should also not be administered this medication. Patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics or those who have a tendency to exhibit allergic symptoms such as asthma or skin rashes should use this drug cautiously. Caution is also required for patients with severely impaired kidney function, elderly patients who have difficulty swallowing or poor nutritional status, and those with gastrointestinal diseases. They should be closely monitored as vitamin K deficiency symptoms may appear. This drug can rarely cause severe allergic reactions like shock or anaphylaxis, so symptoms should be closely monitored during administration. If serious skin reactions like severe rashes, blisters, or mucosal damage occur, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Regular checks are necessary as blood tests may show abnormalities such as leukopenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia. Liver function abnormalities or decreased kidney function may occur, so liver and kidney conditions should be monitored continuously. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur. Severe colitis can develop, so report any abnormal symptoms immediately. Respiratory symptoms such as pneumonia may rarely develop, so if symptoms like breathing difficulties or cough occur, consult a healthcare professional immediately. Central nervous system side effects such as anxiety, agitation, dizziness, and drowsiness have been reported rarely, so caution is needed if these symptoms appear. This medication may cause oral candidiasis; thus, oral hygiene should be maintained. Be alert for signs of bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of vitamin B complex deficiency. When using this medication, it is important to perform sensitivity testing and administer it for the minimum necessary duration to prevent the development of resistant bacteria. There may be interactions with other medications, particularly those affecting the kidneys or anticoagulants and oral contraceptives, so inform healthcare professionals if this applies. During pregnancy, its safety has not been established, so it should only be used when necessary, and caution is required during lactation as well. It is advisable not to use in neonates under one month as safety and efficacy have not been confirmed. Elderly patients may exhibit more pronounced adverse reactions due to decreased bodily functions, thus dosing and intervals should be adjusted and used cautiously. Regular clinical checks and monitoring for abnormal symptoms are required while taking this medication, and consult healthcare professionals immediately if any abnormal symptoms occur.
