This medicine is used to provide selenium to patients who have selenium deficiency that cannot be supplemented by nutrition alone.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet (100μg of selenium) once daily, with a maximum of 2 tablets (200μg of selenium) daily. This medicine is taken without chewing and with water.

Precautions

This medicine should not be taken by individuals who have allergies to this drug or its components. Infants under 12 months should not take this medicine. Patients with selenium toxicity should also refrain from using this medicine. Individuals with hereditary fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or isomaltase deficiency should not use this medicine. When taking this medicine, do not take it together with reducing agents such as Vitamin C. If Vitamin C must be taken, it should be taken separately at least 4 hours apart from this medicine. Patients with heart or circulatory system issues, those with reduced kidney function, and patients with low protein levels (hypoproteinemia) should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should also consult a professional before using this medicine. Nursing mothers should exercise caution as the ingredients of this medicine can be transferred through breast milk. Patients undergoing treatment or those with gastrointestinal diseases like peptic ulcers or chronic ulcerative colitis should also consult before taking this medicine. Children under the age of 12 should consult a professional before use. If symptoms do not improve after taking this medicine for one month, stop use immediately and consult a professional. If symptoms like dermatitis, foul odors during sweating or breathing, hair loss, agitation, vomiting occur, stop taking the medicine and consult a doctor or pharmacist. If allergic reactions occur, stop taking the medicine immediately. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as garlic-like breath, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may arise. Long-term overdose may affect the growth of nails and hair and can lead to neurological disorders. In cases of overdose, treatments such as gastric lavage, diuresis, or high-dose Vitamin C may be necessary, and in severe cases, dialysis may be required. In such cases, a drug called Dimercaprol should not be used as it can worsen selenium toxicity. This medicine must be taken strictly according to the prescribed dosage and administration. When administering to children, ensure it is done under the supervision of a guardian. It is advisable to avoid tea containing tannins like green tea and black tea during or just before or after taking this medicine. This medicine should be kept out of reach of children. Store it away from direct sunlight and in a cool, dry place. Transferring the medicine to a different container from its original may lead to misuse or deterioration in quality, so it should be kept in its original container with the lid tightly closed.
