However, this medication can cause serious side effects such as tendonitis or tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system disturbances, and worsening of myasthenia gravis. If these symptoms occur, the medication should be stopped immediately, and similar class medications should not be used. Patients with myasthenia gravis may experience worsening symptoms if this drug is taken, so it is not administered to them. Additionally, it is used only when there are no other treatment options for specific infections such as acute bacterial rhinosinusitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, uncomplicated urinary infections, and acute otitis media. Elderly patients, patients with impaired kidney function, transplant recipients, those receiving high doses or taking corticosteroids are at increased risk of tendon rupture and should be cautious. Particularly, concomitant use with corticosteroids should be avoided, and if pain, inflammation, or tendon rupture symptoms occur, medication should be stopped immediately. This drug has neuromuscular blocking effects and may cause serious side effects in patients with myasthenia gravis, so it should be used with caution. Patients who previously had allergic reactions to this drug or similar medications, those with a history of tendonitis or tendon rupture, adolescents under 18 in their growth phase, pregnant or breastfeeding women, epilepsy patients, or those with certain genetic diseases should not receive this medication. This drug may cause various side effects including severe allergic reactions, neuropsychiatric symptoms, cardiac arrhythmias, renal and hepatic dysfunction, hematological abnormalities, gastrointestinal issues, musculoskeletal problems, skin diseases, and respiratory issues. Particularly, if severe reactions occur on the skin, the medication should be stopped immediately and medical advice should be sought. This drug may increase the risk of seizures, so caution is needed for patients with epilepsy or central nervous system diseases. During treatment, avoid strong sunlight or artificial ultraviolet exposure, and be cautious of symptoms such as dizziness or drowsiness when driving or operating machinery. This drug may have reduced absorption when taken with certain antacids, iron, calcium, zinc, multivitamins, etc., so dosing intervals should be adjusted. Also, be aware that interactions with certain drugs may increase blood concentration variations or the risk of side effects, so be sure to inform your healthcare provider of any medications being taken.
