This medication is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Take 1 tablet of this medication orally once a week. Food may interfere with the absorption of this medication, so take it at least 30 minutes before breakfast or at least 2 hours before or after meals or beverages during the day. Take it upright with sufficient pure water (170-230ml) and do not chew or suck on it. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy for children and adolescents in development have not been established.

Precautions

This medication can irritate the gastric mucosa, potentially leading to problems such as esophagitis or esophageal ulcers. If you experience pain in the throat or chest or have difficulty swallowing while taking this medication, stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor. When taking the medication, drink adequate amounts of water and do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. Patients with esophageal diseases, gastritis, or duodenitis should use this medication cautiously. Patients experiencing problems with esophageal emptying or severe renal dysfunction should not use this medication. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance should not take it. During the use of this medication, adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D is important, and supplements can be taken if needed. Care should be taken to avoid taking other medications or foods containing calcium, magnesium, iron, etc., at the same time as this medication, as they may interfere with absorption. If a patient is undergoing dental surgery or has an oral infection, there is a risk of jaw necrosis, so it should be discussed with a doctor. If you experience dull and painful pain in the legs or pelvic area while taking this medication, suspect the possibility of atypical fractures and consult medical personnel immediately. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using this medication. Safety for pediatric patients has not been established, so it is recommended not to use it in children. In case of overdose, symptoms of hypocalcemia may occur, so inform medical personnel immediately, and calcium supplementation therapy should be administered if necessary. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to another container.
