Efficacy & effects

Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension

  • Essential hypertension
View approved original text

This medication can be used to effectively manage blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who are not adequately controlled with monotherapy of either Candesartan Cilexetil or Amlodipine. This medication helps to lower blood pressure by dilating blood vessels and reducing the burden on the heart. It reduces the risk of complications such as heart disease or stroke through hypertension treatment and improves overall health. Therefore, it is used for proper blood pressure control.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and newborns if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, nursing mothers, and those allergic to this medication or similar medications should not take it. Patients with severely impaired liver function, certain kidney diseases, and those with a history of angioedema should also not use this medication. Elderly patients or those with high potassium levels, weakened liver function, or low blood pressure should use this medication with greater caution. Since this medication has the effect of lowering blood pressure, there is a risk of dizziness or fainting due to excessive blood pressure reduction, so caution is necessary. In addition, patients with poor kidney function may experience worsening kidney function, so regular blood tests to monitor kidney status are required. Due to the risk of hyperkalemia, careful monitoring of potassium levels in the blood is necessary when taking potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics in conjunction with this medication. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte status while taking this medication is important. Side effects such as dizziness, headache, peripheral edema, cough, and gastrointestinal discomfort may occur, and if serious side effects are suspected, immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is required. This medication may interact with other antihypertensives or certain medications, so it is essential to inform the physician or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. When driving or operating machinery, caution is necessary due to the risk of accidents from dizziness. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid taking this medication, and if it is unavoidable, they should consult a healthcare professional. In case of overdose, symptoms such as low blood pressure, dizziness, and tachycardia may occur, and immediate emergency treatment is required. Keep out of reach of children and avoid transferring to other containers.
