Simvastatin Tablet 20mg (Simvastatin)

Adult dose

Administer 5mg to 40mg once daily in the evening. The initial starting dose is 20mg, and patients with mild to moderate hypercholesterolemia may start with 10mg. To reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, administer 40mg daily. There are dosage restrictions for specific patient groups and concurrent therapies. For patients with severe renal impairment, the initial dose should start at 5mg daily.

Child dose

For pediatric patients aged 10 to 17 years, administer 10mg once daily in the evening. The recommended dosage range is from 10mg to 40mg daily, with a maximum dose of 40mg daily. Dosage adjustments should consider liver functions and take place over intervals of at least 4 weeks.

This medication may cause muscle abnormalities, so patients taking high doses should consult a doctor immediately if they experience muscle pain or weakness symptoms. It can affect liver function, thus it should not be taken by patients with liver disease or abnormal liver enzyme levels. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant and nursing mothers should not take this medication. Serious side effects may occur when taken with certain medications, so patients should inform their doctor if they are taking other medications. Patients who consume excessive alcohol or have liver or kidney issues should take this medication with caution and regular monitoring is required. Elderly patients and women are at higher risk of developing myopathy, so caution is advised during administration. Symptoms may occur such as headache, dyspepsia, constipation, diarrhea, nausea; if symptoms are severe or persistent, consult a healthcare professional. This medication may elevate blood glucose levels, so patients at risk of diabetes should check their blood sugar regularly. Report any new symptoms or adverse reactions to healthcare professionals immediately during treatment. Store this medication out of reach of children and keep it in its original container. In case of overdose, standard emergency treatments should be received and immediate medical assistance is necessary.
