Adult dose

As Finasteride, take 5 mg once daily orally, without regard to meals. Treatment for a minimum of 6 months is required even if symptoms improve upon taking the medication.

This medication should not be used by children and women. In particular, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should not handle broken pieces of this medication, as it is safe in its intact form. Depressive symptoms or mood changes may occur while taking this medication; if any such symptoms arise, consultation with a healthcare professional is essential. Those with allergies to this medication or certain genetic disorders should not take it. Patients with poor liver function should use this medication with caution, and primarily sexual function-related adverse effects have been reported, which are usually mild and temporary. Rare reports of breast cancer have been associated with long-term use, but the causal relationship is unclear. This medication may influence the risk of prostate cancer, so it is crucial for men over 55 years old to undergo regular examinations. This medication has minimal interactions with other drugs and does not significantly affect CYP450 enzymes, making it safe to take with various medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take this medication, especially as it may affect the external genitalia development in male fetuses during pregnancy. The safety and efficacy for pediatric patients have not been established, so it is not administered to children. Elderly patients can use this medication without special dosage adjustments; however, prostate health should be closely monitored before and during treatment. This medication lowers prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, so caution is needed in interpreting PSA test results. There is no specific treatment for overdose, but it is important to adhere to the recommended dosage. Store in a place out of reach of children, and avoid transferring to another container.

Serious side effects
