This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling their blood pressure with either amlodipine or olmesartan medoxomil alone. By managing blood pressure appropriately, it reduces the risk of cardiovascular complications and improves overall health.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken once daily, with one tablet, regardless of meals, preferably at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with either amlodipine 5 mg or olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg monotherapy. - 10/20 mg: Administered to patients with olmesartan medoxomil 20 mg monotherapy.

Precautions

This drug can cause severe harm or death to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this drug, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, patients with severe liver impairment, patients with severe aortic stenosis, patients with bile duct obstruction, patients undergoing kidney dialysis, patients in shock, diabetic patients taking aliskiren, and patients with moderate to severe renal impairment should not take this medication. Patients with hypotension and dehydration may experience hypotensive symptoms during the initial period of taking this drug, requiring close monitoring of their condition, and appropriate measures if hypotension occurs. Since this drug acts as a vasodilator, it should be used cautiously in patients with severe aortic stenosis, severe obstructive coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, renal impairment, and liver impairment. While taking this drug, various side effects may occur, including dizziness, headache, hypotension, orthostatic hypotension, drowsiness, edema, dyspepsia, skin rash, and so on, so if any abnormal symptoms arise, consult a physician or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult a healthcare provider before using this drug, and if pregnancy is confirmed, they should discontinue use as soon as possible. Breastfeeding women should be advised to stop breastfeeding or discontinue the drug while taking this medication, as it may be secreted into breast milk and could cause adverse reactions in infants. The safety and efficacy in children under 18 years of age have not been established, and this medication is not recommended for pediatric use. Elderly patients should start with a low dose and use it carefully due to the potential for decreased renal and liver function, and their condition should be monitored frequently. There may be interactions with other medications, so patients should inform their healthcare provider of any medications they are currently taking, especially when using potassium supplements, diuretics, lithium, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain relievers. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, tachycardia, etc., may occur, necessitating immediate medical treatment and monitoring.
