Treatment of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, relief and maintenance therapy for gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms, combination therapy with antibiotics for Helicobacter pylori infection gastrointestinal ulcers, etc.
This drug is effective for the treatment of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It also improves erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease and helps relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is used for long-term maintenance treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and is used in combination with antibiotics for patients with gastrointestinal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori. Lastly, it is also utilized for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It effectively treats various gastrointestinal diseases.
Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: Adults should take 10 mg of Rabeprazole Sodium orally once daily. Depending on symptoms, it may be possible to take 20 mg orally once daily. Generally, it is administered for up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and up to 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: Administer 10 mg or 20 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. If symptoms persist after 8 weeks of proton pump inhibitor (PPI) treatment, an additional 8-week treatment with 10 mg or 20 mg twice daily may be necessary; however, 20 mg twice daily should only be given to patients with severe mucosal damage. Symptom relief for gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg once daily should be taken. If symptoms are not controlled after 4 weeks, further medical attention is required. After symptom resolution, a maintenance on-demand therapy of 10 mg once daily can be used to address any subsequent symptoms. Long-term maintenance therapy for gastroesophageal reflux disease: This should be administered at 10 mg or 20 mg orally once daily depending on the patient. Helicobacter pylori eradication: Patients infected with Helicobacter pylori should receive eradication therapy. It is recommended to use this drug 20 mg in combination with 500 mg of Clarithromycin and 1 g of Amoxicillin, administered twice daily for 7 days. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: The recommended initial dosage for adults is 60 mg once daily. The dosage can be adjusted up to 120 mg once daily based on individual patient needs. Dosages of up to 100 mg can be administered once daily; however, 120 mg must be split into 60 mg taken twice daily. Patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome have been treated with this drug for up to 1 year. ◯ Patients with liver dysfunction: Adverse reactions have been reported in cirrhotic patients due to hepatic encephalopathy, thus caution must be exercised during administration. ◯ Pediatrics: Safety in children has not been established. ◯ Elderly: Caution must be exercised as they often have reduced liver function.
This drug should not be used in certain patients. It should not be administered to those who are allergic to this drug, its components, or have a history of hypersensitivity reactions to benzimidazole derivatives. Also, patients with allergies to specific antibiotics used in combination for Helicobacter pylori eradication should not be administered this drug. It is also safe for women who are pregnant, lactating, or have underlying heart conditions or are taking antiviral medications due to potential risks. Patients with liver dysfunction, elderly patients, and those with a history of drug allergies should use this drug with special caution. This drug contains Yellow No. 4 dye, so careful administration is needed for patients allergic to this component. If skin rashes or itching occur during treatment, usage should be immediately discontinued. Regular blood tests are required as there may be changes in red or white blood cell counts. Liver function tests should also be conducted, and if abnormal signs are found, dosing should be stopped. Cardiac issues, blood pressure abnormalities, gastrointestinal symptoms, and neurological symptoms may also occur, so patients should consult with healthcare professionals if these symptoms arise. Various unusual reactions have been reported, including respiratory issues, myalgia, skin problems, visual changes, and urinary issues, so caution is necessary. Long-term use of this drug may increase the risk of fractures and lead to hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels in the blood). In this case, magnesium supplementation may be needed, and regular blood tests are recommended. Since this drug reduces gastric acid secretion, it may increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract; patients should inform their healthcare provider if diarrhea symptoms persist. Caution is necessary when driving or operating machinery as drowsiness may occur. This drug may interact with certain medications, so patients must inform their healthcare provider if they are taking other medications, especially antibiotics, antivirals, or anticoagulants. Pregnant or lactating women should not use this drug, and safety in children has not been established. This drug should be swallowed whole without chewing or crushing and stored out of the reach of children. Any unusual symptoms occurring during treatment should be immediately reported to a physician for necessary testing.
Urticaria, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme fatigue, fulminant hepatitis, liver function impairment, jaundice, severe rash accompanied by fever, blisters, skin peeling, oral/ocular mucosal pain, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell syndrome), Stevens-Johnson syndrome (severe allergic reactions), severe skin reactions, dyspnea, asthma, apnea, respiratory depression, interstitial pneumonia.

This drug may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it should be kept in a tightly sealed container. It is best to store at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius to maintain its efficacy.
