Patients who are not treated with metformin: The initial dosage is 50/500 mg taken twice daily, taking one tablet at a time, which can be increased to 50/1000 mg as one tablet twice daily. 2. Precautions

This medication contains sitagliptin and metformin and is used for diabetes treatment. Firstly, there is a possibility of hypersensitivity reactions when taking this medication, so if symptoms such as skin rash, hives, or difficulty breathing occur, immediately discontinue use and consult a doctor. Additionally, there is a risk of developing acute pancreatitis, which is a severe inflammation of the pancreas. If abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort occurs after taking this medication, it is necessary to go to the hospital immediately. Due to the metformin component, a rare but potentially life-threatening metabolic disorder called lactic acidosis may occur, so if symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, difficulty breathing, or abdominal pain appear, discontinue use immediately and inform healthcare professionals. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, severe infections, dehydration, acute myocardial infarction, or heart failure should not take this medication and should discontinue it before and after examinations using radiographic contrast agents. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not take this medication. Irregular eating habits, excessive exercise, or concurrent use with other medications may increase the risk of hypoglycemia, so caution is required. During treatment, regular kidney function and blood tests are necessary, and checking vitamin B12 levels is advisable. This medication may cause hypoglycemia, so if symptoms such as dizziness, cold sweats, or tremors occur, sugar should be consumed immediately. It is recommended to discontinue taking this medication for a certain period before and after surgery, and to confirm normal kidney function before resuming. Moreover, excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment, as alcohol may increase the risk of lactic acidosis. Occasionally, severe joint pain or skin disorders may occur during treatment; if any abnormal symptoms arise, consult a physician. Finally, the safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established for use in children, so it is advised that individuals under 18 years of age do not take this medication.
