Telmisartan is primarily used for the treatment of essential hypertension and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, particularly helping to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and death due to cardiovascular diseases in high-risk patients. Therefore, this medication is used for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in patients with both hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
Telmisartan is recommended at an oral dose of 40 mg once daily, which may be effective at 20 mg once daily depending on the patient. If needed, it can be increased to 80 mg once daily. For reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, a dose of 80 mg orally once daily is recommended. For patients with liver impairment (mild to moderate), the dose should not exceed 40 mg once daily. Rosuvastatin Calcium is initiated at a dose of 5 mg once daily.
