This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled by monotherapy with either amlodipine or olmesartan medoxomil. By reliably managing blood pressure, it reduces the risk of cardiovascular complications and improves the overall health of the patient. Therefore, it plays an important role in the treatment of essential hypertension and contributes to the patient's quality of life.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken once daily, with or without meals, accompanied by water. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g. in the morning). The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20 milligrams: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 milligrams or olmesartan medoxomil 20 milligrams monotherapy. - 10/20 milligrams: Administered to patients with olmesartan medoxomil 20 milligrams monotherapy.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy as it can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn. It should not be used in patients with allergies to any of the active ingredients or similar drugs, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severe liver disease, aortic stenosis, cholestasis, or those on kidney dialysis. In patients with low blood volume or salt deficiency, hypotension may occur, so careful monitoring is necessary during initial administration. This medication should not be used during pregnancy, and if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued immediately and a doctor should be consulted. Breastfeeding mothers should note that this medication may pass into breast milk, so they may need to discontinue breastfeeding or stop taking the medication. Children under 18 years of age are not recommended to use this medication as its safety and efficacy have not been established. Older adults may experience reduced liver and kidney function, so it is recommended to start with a lower dose and administer it carefully. Overdose of this medication can lead to severe hypotension and vascular dilation, causing increased heart rate; therefore, if symptoms occur, it is essential to notify healthcare personnel immediately.
