Improvement of blood pressure control in essential hypertension
This medication is used to effectively control the blood pressure of patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with amlodipine or olmesartan medoxomil.
This drug should be taken once daily, with one tablet, regardless of meals, and it is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). The recommended doses are as follows: - 5/20 milligrams: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with 5 milligrams of amlodipine or 20 milligrams of olmesartan medoxomil. - 10/20 milligrams: Administered for patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with 20 milligrams of olmesartan medoxomil.
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established.
This drug may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in individuals with allergies to any ingredients in this drug, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with severe liver impairment, those undergoing dialysis, or in shock. Patients with fluid or salt depletion or those with hypotension should be closely monitored at the beginning of treatment as their blood pressure may drop too low; appropriate treatment should be provided if necessary. Since there is a risk of rapid blood pressure drop due to vascular dilation, careful administration is required for patients with severe aortic stenosis or obstructive coronary artery disease. In patients with heart failure, careful use is warranted, and renal function should also be closely monitored in patients with impaired renal function. Patients with impaired liver function may experience delays in metabolism of this drug, thus requiring dosage adjustment and careful monitoring. This drug can cause various side effects, including dizziness, headache, hypotension, edema, gastrointestinal disturbances, skin rashes, and myalgia. In particular, if blood pressure drops too low or heart rhythms become irregular, consultation with a healthcare professional should be sought immediately. This drug may interact with other medications, so it is important to inform healthcare professionals of any current medications. In particular, taking grapefruit juice may enhance blood pressure-lowering effects excessively, so it is best to avoid it. It is generally advised not to take this drug during pregnancy, and if planning to become pregnant or after pregnancy confirmation, consultation with a physician is essential. If breastfeeding, it is necessary to consider stopping breastfeeding or changing medications, as this drug can be transmitted in breast milk and may affect the infant. It is recommended not to use this drug in children under the age of 18 as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly individuals may have reduced renal and liver function and should start at a low dose and carefully adjust the dosage. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and vasodilation may occur and immediate emergency treatment is needed. This drug should be stored in a tightly sealed container, protected from direct sunlight and moisture, and kept out of reach of children.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This drug must be stored in a sealed container to avoid exposure to air or moisture. It is important to maintain a storage temperature between 1°C and 30°C. Proper storage will ensure the drug's effectiveness.
