Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive esophagitis), eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection (duodenal ulcer), alleviation of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive esophagitis and also helps prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis. Additionally, it is effective in alleviating symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is used as part of combination therapy with antibiotics for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection-associated duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers, also aiding in prevention of recurrence. Furthermore, it is used in treating upper gastrointestinal symptoms and gastric ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as preventing gastric and duodenal ulcers. This medication is also effective for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and for maintenance therapy to prevent rebleeding from gastric ulcers or duodenal ulcers. It is widely used for the treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal diseases.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist or are untreated, an additional 4 weeks of treatment is necessary. - Maintenance therapy for the prevention of esophagitis recurrence: 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis.
Adolescents aged 12 and above - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms persist or are untreated, an additional 4 weeks of treatment is necessary. - Symptomatic treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis: Once daily,
This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients with allergies to this medication or its components, or those with hypersensitivity to certain antibiotics, should not take it. Furthermore, women who are nursing or have a history of certain heart conditions should avoid this medication. When taking this medication, various adverse reactions may occur, necessitating caution. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting are common, while rare cases of blood abnormalities, skin rash, and muscle pain have also been reported. In severe cases, hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylaxis or severe skin reactions may occur, thus medical assistance should be sought if symptoms worsen. Long-term use of this medication may lead to electrolyte imbalances such as hypomagnesemia, requiring regular blood tests. Additionally, long-term use may increase the risk of fractures, thus patients with osteoporosis should be cautious. This medication can interact with other drugs, so it is important to consult a doctor, especially when taken with anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, or antiviral agents. Care should be taken as the effects of this medication or others may change when used in combination with certain drugs.
