Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension with the combination of amlodipine and valsartan
This medicine assists in the effective management of blood pressure in cases where blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled by the current monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan. Essential hypertension occurs without a specific cause, and stabilizing blood pressure through treatment is critical. This drug contributes to reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases by improving blood pressure control when added to existing treatment. Therefore, it is used to improve blood pressure management in patients with hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled.
The recommended dosage is once daily, 1 tablet, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning).
The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so its use is not recommended.
This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to the active ingredients, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with severe kidney or liver dysfunction, and those with specific heart conditions should not take this medication. Patients with low sodium or fluid levels in the body may experience hypotension, so it is essential to check the condition before taking it, and if symptoms of hypotension occur during use, appropriate measures should be taken immediately. Patients with high potassium levels should be cautious when taking this medication along with potassium supplements or other medications that elevate potassium levels, and frequent monitoring of blood potassium levels is required. Patients with kidney problems, kidney transplant recipients, and those with a history of angioedema should also be careful when taking this medicine, and if symptoms of angioedema arise, they should stop taking it immediately. Patients after heart failure or myocardial infarction should carefully monitor their kidney function and blood pressure when taking this medication, as there is a risk of pulmonary edema, and should follow medical instructions. This medicine may cause dizziness or fatigue when driving or operating machinery, so caution is necessary. When taken with other medications, interactions may occur, especially when combined with potassium-sparing diuretics, NSAIDs, certain antibiotics, simvastatin, CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers. It is advisable to consult a doctor or pharmacist before combining. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should avoid taking this medication, and breastfeeding women are also advised to refrain from use. It is not recommended for children, as safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established.
