This medication is intended for patients who need to take irbesartan and atorvastatin simultaneously. Irbesartan is used to treat essential hypertension and nephropathy in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes. Atorvastatin is effective for reducing cardiovascular disease risk and treating hyperlipidemia. It particularly helps to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, need for vascular interventions, angina, and heart failure hospitalization. Additionally, it is used to improve cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia and various dyslipidemias. This medication simultaneously improves cardiovascular health and blood pressure control through the combined action of both components.
This drug is administered only to adults, and the dosage should be individualized for each patient based on the efficacy and tolerability of irbesartan/atorvastatin each component. ○ Irbesartan - Essential hypertension: Administer 150 mg orally once daily, and may increase to 300 mg if necessary. - Nephropathy in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes: Start with 150 mg once daily and may increase to 300 mg.
This medication should not be taken during pregnancy. If pregnancy is confirmed, it must be stopped immediately as it can cause serious harm to the fetus. Since this medication may cause muscle issues, notify your doctor immediately if you experience muscle pain, weakness, or extreme fatigue. Treatment should be stopped if muscle enzyme levels rise significantly. Patients with liver dysfunction or a history of liver disease should undergo regular liver function tests while taking this medication, and consult their doctor if they experience liver dysfunction symptoms. Be cautious as blood pressure may drop too low or symptoms such as dizziness or fainting may occur when starting the medication or changing the dosage. This medication may increase potassium levels, so patients at risk of hyperkalemia should have their blood potassium levels checked regularly. Interactions may occur when taken with other antihypertensives or certain diuretics, potassium supplements, so consult with a doctor or pharmacist. It is not recommended for children or adolescents under 18 as safety has not been established. For the elderly, as bodily responses may vary, treatment should start at a lower dose, observing their condition thereafter. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal disturbances such as dyspepsia, headache, dizziness, muscle pain, fatigue, and edema may occur. If symptoms are severe or persistent, inform healthcare professionals. Also, this medication may interact with certain drugs, so if you are currently taking any medications, be sure to inform your healthcare provider.
