Summary

Main use
Reduction of the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke and improvement of hyperlipidemia
Who takes it
Adults · Children
Adult dose
The recommended initial dose for hyperlipidemia is 10 mg once daily, and for patients requiring greater LDL-cholesterol reduction, it can be initiated at 20 mg or 40 mg once daily. Typically administered in dosages ranging from 10 mg to 80 mg once daily. After initiation and dose adjustment, lipid levels should be analyzed within 2 to 4 weeks to adjust dosage. As the goal of treatment is to reduce LDL-cholesterol levels, it is recommended to use LDL-cholesterol levels to assess treatment response during the initiation of therapy and evaluation. However, if LDL cholesterol levels cannot be used, total cholesterol levels should be used to monitor treatment response. For patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, the dosage is 10 mg to 80 mg once daily, either used in conjunction with other lipid-lowering therapies (e.g., LDL apheresis) or when such lipid-lowering treatments are not feasible.
Child dose
The recommended initial dose for pediatric patients (10 to 17 years) with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia is 10 mg once daily, and the recommended maximum dose is 20 mg once daily. Dosage should be adjusted at intervals of 4 weeks or longer.

This medication helps to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular procedures, and angina in adults with risk factors for cardiovascular disease and in patients with diabetes. It also reduces the risk of non-fatal myocardial infarction, fatal and non-fatal stroke, and hospitalization due to congestive heart failure in patients who already have heart disease, and is effective in improving symptoms of angina. In patients with hyperlipidemia, it is used to decrease harmful cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the body and to increase good cholesterol (HDL) levels, thus improving overall lipid balance. It is particularly effective in treating hypercholesterolemia in children and adolescents with a family history or other risk factors. This medication plays an important role in maintaining cardiovascular health and improving hyperlipidemia.
