This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. It also helps to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and death due to cardiovascular disease in patients with a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, transient ischemic attacks, or those at high risk of diabetes. It can particularly be utilized as an alternative treatment when ACE inhibitors cannot be used. Therefore, this medication simultaneously improves blood pressure control and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
