This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). 5/80 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 80 mg monotherapy. 5/160 mg: Administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with amlodipine 5 mg or valsartan 160 mg monotherapy.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in pediatric patients under 18 years of age, and its use is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, if pregnancy is confirmed, it should be discontinued immediately. It is advised not to take this medication if you are allergic to it, pregnant, nursing, have severe kidney or liver diseases, or have certain heart conditions. Patients with low sodium or fluid levels may experience hypotension, so their condition should be stabilized before use, and blood pressure should be carefully monitored during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels should periodically check their serum potassium levels, as taking this medication with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics may further increase potassium levels. Patients with impaired renal function or kidney transplant recipients may experience effects on kidney function while taking this medication and should be closely monitored by healthcare professionals. If symptoms of angioedema occur, the medication should be stopped immediately and should not be re-administered. Patients with heart failure or myocardial infarction should closely monitor changes in kidney function while using this medication. This medication may cause dizziness or fatigue, so caution is advised while driving or operating machinery. This medication can interact with other antihypertensive agents or certain drugs, so it is essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant are advised not to use this medication, and nursing women are also recommended to avoid taking it. The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been sufficiently established in pediatric patients, therefore it is not recommended for use in children. In case of overdose, hypotension and cardiac dysfunction may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought for appropriate treatment.
