Treatment for essential hypertension to control blood pressure.
Used for the treatment of essential hypertension; it effectively manages blood pressure when administered in combination with Telmisartan for patients whose blood pressure is poorly controlled.
Patients with inadequately controlled blood pressure should take Telmisartan alone or with this medication regardless of meals, once a day with a beverage. - The Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination of 40/12.5 mg can be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with 40 mg of Telmisartan. - The Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination of 80/12.5 mg can be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with 80 mg of Telmisartan.
Safety and efficacy have not been established for children under 18 years.
This medication can have serious effects on the fetus during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Do not use this medication if you have allergies to any of its ingredients or additives, are in the second or third trimester of pregnancy, are breastfeeding, or have conditions such as cholestasis, biliary obstruction, severe liver or kidney impairment. Elderly patients or those with high potassium levels, liver impairment, heart valve disease, ischemic heart disease, gastrointestinal diseases, or renal vascular hypertension should be particularly cautious when using this drug. This medication can cause various side effects such as dizziness, hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, skin rash, muscle pain, and dyspepsia, so any abnormal symptoms should prompt immediate consultation with a doctor. Particularly, as there may be an increased risk of skin cancer, exposure to sunlight should be minimized, and any skin abnormalities should be reported to healthcare professionals. This medication may interact with other blood pressure medications, lithium, potassium supplements, diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc., so it is essential to inform your doctor about any other medications you are taking. It should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and alternative treatments should be discussed if you are planning to become pregnant or are already pregnant. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, and dehydration may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children under 18 years, so it is not recommended for use in this age group. Elderly patients should be cautious when taking this medication due to the risk of excessive blood pressure lowering, which can lead to conditions like cerebral infarction.
