This medication is used to prevent the onset of asthma and treat it continuously. It also helps alleviate symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. Therefore, it is effective for asthma management and improving allergic rhinitis symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken once daily, however, in the case of asthma patients, it is taken in the evening. For allergic rhinitis patients, the dosing time is determined according to the patient's condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 1 tablet in the evening once daily. Adults and adolescents over 15 years should take 10 mg of montelukast once a day orally.

Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis. During usage, psychiatric symptoms may occur, so if changes such as agitation, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts arise, consultation with a doctor should be made immediately. Those with hypersensitivity to this medication or certain genetic issues like lactose intolerance should not take it. Side effects such as fatigue, headache, abdominal pain, indigestion, cough, and rash may occur, and if symptoms persist or worsen, consult a doctor. This medication is not suitable for treating acute asthma attacks, so an emergency inhaler should always be on hand. Patients hypersensitive to aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid taking these medications while using this drug. It should only be used during pregnancy when necessary, and nursing mothers should exercise caution while taking it.
