This medication is used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women to increase bone strength and reduce the risk of fractures. It helps prevent bone loss and improve bone health. How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 tablet once a month on the same day in the morning at least 1 hour before consuming food, beverages (excluding water), other oral medications, or dietary supplements (including calcium) with enough water. It should be swallowed in an upright or sitting position with an adequate amount (180-240 mL) of water, and lying down should be avoided for 60 minutes after taking. Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, those with allergies to this drug or its components, untreated hypocalcemia, inability to sit or stand upright for more than 60 minutes, esophageal issues that impair swallowing, and those with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take this medication. Patients with severe renal impairment should use this medication with caution. Side effects such as dyspepsia, nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, muscle pain, joint pain, and rash may occur while taking this medication. Serious side effects, including flu-like symptoms, eye inflammation, and osteonecrosis of the jaw, have also been reported in some patients. Before starting this medication, it is important to address hypocalcemia and bone and mineral metabolism issues and to ensure adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D. Additionally, since this drug can irritate the gastric mucosa, care should be taken in patients with gastrointestinal diseases such as esophagitis or gastritis. When taking this medication, you must remain sitting or standing upright for at least 60 minutes and avoid consuming food or medications containing calcium or iron simultaneously. It is advisable to avoid other foods or medications for one hour after taking the drug. Due to the risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw, it is recommended that cancer patients or those requiring dental treatment receive a dental examination prior to taking this medication and avoid excessive dental work during treatment. This medication is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women, and safety has not been established in children under 18 years of age. In cases of overdose, gastrointestinal disturbances or hypocalcemia may occur; patients should take milk or antacids and should not induce vomiting, remaining upright. Lastly, store this medication out of reach of children, and properly dispose of expired medications in an environmentally safe manner.
