How to take

Adult dose

Sildenafil is administered orally at the recommended dose of 25 to 50 mg about 1 hour before sexual activity once daily. Depending on the circumstances, it can also be administered 4 hours to 30 minutes before sexual activity. The dose may be adjusted based on efficacy and tolerability. Certain patient groups (aged 65 and older, liver failure, severe renal failure, co-administration of CYP3A4 inhibitors, etc.) should have the initial dose adjusted to 25 mg.

Precautions

This medication works by dilating blood vessels to lower blood pressure. Therefore, taking it with nitrates or other antihypertensives may pose a risk of excessively low blood pressure. Patients with cardiovascular diseases must confirm their condition before taking this medication. It may impose stress on the heart; thus, patients with cardiovascular disorders or those for whom sexual activity is not recommended should not use this medication. It can temporarily lower blood pressure, so patients at risk for dizziness or fainting must be cautious. If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, immediate medical attention should be sought, as untreated it can result in penile tissue damage or loss of erectile function. Special care should be taken for elderly patients, those with impaired liver or kidney function, and patients with specific blood pressure conditions, requiring dosage adjustments and careful administration. Caution is needed when administered with certain enzyme inhibitors, as the blood concentration may significantly increase. Patients with phenylketonuria should avoid this medication due to its artificial sweetener content. Pregnant women and women should not use this medication. If sudden vision loss or hearing reduction occurs during use, immediate cessation and consultation with a physician is necessary. Moreover, caution is advised while driving or operating machinery as visual disturbances or dizziness may occur. This drug is not intended for purposes other than treating erectile dysfunction, and co-administration with other erectile dysfunction treatments is not recommended. Overdose may exacerbate symptoms, so prescribed doses should be adhered to. Keep out of the reach of children and do not transfer to another container.
