Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with bacterial, fungal, viral, or animal skin infections. Patients allergic to this medication or its components should also avoid it. Care should be taken in patients with perforated eardrums suffering from eczema of the external ear, as it may delay healing. It is advisable not to use in cases of ulcers, severe burns, or frostbite, as skin regeneration may be inhibited. Patients with perioral dermatitis, acne, rosacea, or non-inflammatory itching should also not use this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should use this medication with caution, and it is particularly safe to consult a physician before using it in children under 2 years of age. Elderly patients also require caution due to a higher risk of side effects. The use of this medication may lead to or exacerbate skin infections, with various skin adverse reactions such as skin irritation, rashes, itching, and skin dryness possibly occurring. Long-term use may cause severe skin changes, such as steroid acne, skin thinning, vascular dilation, and perioral dermatitis, so the dosage should be gradually reduced. Even when used locally, it may affect the whole body; thus, particularly when used over large areas for extended periods or under occlusive dressings, endocrine disorders such as pituitary-adrenal function suppression may occur, requiring regular check-ups. Caution should be exercised when applying near the eyes, as there is a risk of increased intraocular pressure or glaucoma. If vision problems occur, consultation with a specialist should be sought immediately. This medication is not generally used for dermatitis accompanied by infection, but if it must be, it should be used in conjunction with antibacterial or antifungal medication, or discontinued immediately if infection spreads. The treatment duration should be limited to within 7 days, and it is advisable to stop as soon as symptoms improve. Pregnant or nursing mothers should consider the effects on the fetus or infant, administering for the minimum effective duration and dose, avoiding application to the breast area during breastfeeding. In children, the risk of side effects such as adrenal suppression is higher, so long-term use should be avoided, and areas covered by diapers may exhibit effects similar to occlusive dressings, necessitating caution. Elderly patients have a higher likelihood of side effects; hence, careful monitoring is required during prolonged or high-dose use. In the event of excessive use, systemic steroid side effects may occur, so appropriate management should be followed according to a physician's instructions. This medication should not be used for ophthalmic purposes and should not be used for non-therapeutic purposes after makeup or shaving, and occlusive dressings must be used strictly under medical supervision. Use in facial areas should be avoided due to the risk of skin atrophy, and it should be kept out of reach of children. Patients with psoriasis should exercise caution, as prolonged high-dose use may lead to psoriatic erythroderma or pustular psoriasis.
