This medication is used to relieve temporary insomnia.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Take 50 mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride orally once a day before bedtime. If excessive sedation occurs, take 25 mg.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by certain patients. For example, individuals who are allergic to this medication or those who have difficulty breathing due to asthma attacks, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis should not take it. Patients with urinary obstruction diseases such as glaucoma or benign prostatic hyperplasia should also avoid using this medication. Those with peptic ulcers or pyloric obstruction, children under 15 years of age, patients with convulsive disorders such as epilepsy, pheochromocytoma patients, and breastfeeding women should not use this medication. It is advisable for patients with routine insomnia or those diagnosed with insomnia to avoid this medication. During the use of this medication, do not take other medications containing the same active ingredient, hypnotics, MAO inhibitors, cold medications, antipyretic analgesics, cough medications, expectorants, or antihistamines for allergies or motion sickness that may also contain similar ingredients. Avoid prolonged use of this medication, and if drowsiness or lethargy persists after taking it, do not engage in hazardous activities such as driving or operating machinery. It is also safest to avoid alcohol during treatment. Individuals with severe myasthenia gravis, those under a doctor's care, the elderly, individuals with allergic dispositions, those with a history of drug allergies, pregnant women, or women who may become pregnant must consult with their doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. If symptoms such as skin rashes, itching, thirst, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, headaches, drowsiness, discomfort, palpitations, difficulty urinating, or visual disturbances occur after taking the medication, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. If symptoms do not improve after 2 to 3 doses, consult your doctor. This medication should be taken according to the prescribed dosage and regimen, and it is important to consult a doctor if insomnia persists for more than 2 weeks. Lastly, this medication should be stored out of reach of children and kept tightly closed in its original container. Care should be taken to avoid transferring it to another container, as this may compromise the quality of the drug or increase the risk of misuse.
