View approved original text

This drug is primarily used to reduce the risk of death in patients with essential hypertension, heart failure intolerant to ACE inhibitors, and stable patients with left ventricular dysfunction after a myocardial infarction. It effectively controls blood pressure to prevent cardiovascular complications and helps alleviate symptoms in heart failure patients. It also significantly contributes to reducing the risk resulting from impaired cardiac function after a myocardial infarction. Therefore, this drug is used to improve cardiovascular health and lower the incidence of related complications.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not take this drug. It is also advisable for patients with severe liver dysfunction, liver cirrhosis, or biliary obstruction to avoid using this drug. Patients with hereditary angioedema or those who have previously experienced angioedema with similar medications should not take this drug. Patients with severely impaired renal function or certain kidney diseases should also avoid this drug. Diabetic patients or those with moderate to severe renal impairment should not combine this drug with certain medications. Elderly individuals or patients with high serum potassium levels and mildly impaired liver function should exercise caution when taking this drug. Patients with heart disease or those at risk of a rapid drop in blood pressure should take this medication carefully. Blood pressure may suddenly drop when starting this medication, hence close monitoring is essential, particularly in patients who are dehydrated or low in sodium. This drug may cause side effects such as headache, dizziness, cough, diarrhea, and fatigue, and in rare cases can lead to serious allergic reactions or worsening renal function. Regular monitoring of renal function and potassium levels through blood tests is crucial. This drug can interact with other antihypertensives, diuretics, and anticoagulants, so it is imperative to inform your healthcare provider of any concurrent medications. Particularly, combining with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements can dangerously elevate serum potassium levels. Pregnant women should not use this drug, and it is also safer to avoid it during breastfeeding. Safety and efficacy in children and adolescents under 18 have not been established. In the elderly, starting at a low dose is necessary to prevent excessively low blood pressure, while closely monitoring their condition. In case of overdose, symptoms may include hypotension, decreased consciousness, and shock, necessitating immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment. This drug should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers.
