Adult dose
This medication can be taken regardless of meals, but it is recommended to take it at the same time each day. In hypertension treatment, the initial and maintenance dose is recommended to be 50 mg orally once daily as Losartan Potassium. If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, it can be divided into 100 mg once daily at maximum or taken as 50 mg twice daily. In the treatment of kidney disease in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes, typically 50 mg once daily is recommended.
Child dose
For patients aged 6 years and older weighing 20 kg or more but less than 50 kg, a dose of 25 mg once daily is recommended, which can be increased to a maximum of 50 mg once daily. For patients aged 6 years and older weighing 50 kg or more, a dose of 50 mg is recommended once daily.

This medication is used for treating hypertension, particularly to help prevent or treat kidney disease in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes. Therefore, it is effective when managing kidney problems associated with hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication can be taken regardless of meals, but it is recommended to take it at the same time each day. In hypertension treatment, the initial and maintenance dose is recommended to be 50 mg orally once daily as Losartan Potassium. If the therapeutic effect is insufficient, it can be divided into 100 mg once daily at maximum or taken as 50 mg twice daily. In the treatment of kidney disease in patients with hypertension and type 2 diabetes, typically 50 mg once daily is recommended.

Child dose

For patients aged 6 years and older weighing 20 kg or more but less than 50 kg, a dose of 25 mg once daily is recommended, which can be increased to a maximum of 50 mg once daily. For patients aged 6 years and older weighing 50 kg or more, a dose of 50 mg is recommended once daily.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Patients with an allergic reaction to this drug, severely impaired liver function, or certain genetic disorders should also avoid its use. Special care is needed when using this medication for elderly patients or those with high serum potassium levels, and patients with weakened liver or kidney function. This medication may cause side effects such as muscle cramps, dizziness, cough, and dyspepsia, and rarely could cause serious allergic reactions, liver function abnormalities, or decreased kidney function. While taking this medication, blood pressure may drop too low, leading to dizziness or fainting; if symptoms occur, consult healthcare professionals immediately. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive medications, diuretics, potassium supplements, etc., so you must consult a doctor before taking it. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid this medication, and if its use is unavoidable, it is advisable to consult a specialist and discontinue breastfeeding. Children, especially those under 6 years or with very poor kidney function, should not take this medication for safety reasons.
