Treatment of otitis media, respiratory and urinary tract infections
This medication is effective against various bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Staphylococcus, and Escherichia coli. It is primarily used for respiratory infections such as otitis media, pneumonia, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and bronchitis. It is also effective for urinary tract infections such as pyelonephritis, cystitis, and gonococcal urethritis. It can be applied to skin infections such as furuncles, abscesses, folliculitis, and soft tissue infections, as well as wound infections. It is used to effectively treat various types of infectious diseases.
Cefaclor hydrate should be administered orally at a dose of 250 mg (potency) every 8 hours. In cases of severe infections (such as pneumonia) and low susceptibility infections, the dosage may be doubled. For acute gonococcal urethritis, this medication should be used in a single combined dose of 3 g with 1 g of Probenecid.

This medication works by binding to certain proteins to inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis, thus killing bacteria. Before using this medication, it should not be administered to patients who have experienced shock (severe allergic reactions) or have shown hypersensitivity to this medication or cephalosporin-class antibiotics. Caution is advised for those with a history of allergy to penicillin-class antibiotics, or those who have a family history of bronchial asthma, rashes, and hives. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, those who have difficulty swallowing, the elderly, and patients in poor general condition should be closely monitored during administration, as symptoms of vitamin K deficiency may appear. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, particularly a history of colitis, should also be cautious. This drug can occasionally cause various side effects, including severe allergic reactions, skin rashes, blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, renal impairment, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Discontinue use and seek appropriate treatment immediately if symptoms appear. Particularly, rare but serious colitis, such as pseudomembranous colitis, may occur; consult a doctor immediately if abdominal pain or diarrhea worsens. To reduce the occurrence of resistant bacteria, susceptibility testing should be performed, and it is advisable to use this drug only for the essential minimum period. If taking this medication along with Probenecid, medications affecting the kidneys, anticoagulants, or oral contraceptives, it is necessary to inform healthcare professionals, and appropriate tests should be performed as needed during administration. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if absolutely necessary, and nursing mothers should also use it with caution. Safety in neonates under one month has not been confirmed, so it is advisable not to use it in patients of this age group. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily due to decreased physiological function, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted, and careful observation is recommended. This medication may affect test results, so caution is needed during urine glucose testing or the direct Coombs test.
