This medication is used to relieve allergic reactions such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, dermatitis, and chronic urticaria.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children over 12 years should take 10 mg of ebastine orally once daily. Adjust dosage as appropriate based on age and symptoms.

Child dose

Children aged 6-11 years should take 5 mg once daily.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose, and may cause hypersensitivity reactions such as diarrhea in children and adolescents who are sensitive to lactose; consult a doctor if symptoms occur. Patients who have an allergic reaction to this medication or have severely impaired liver function should not take it. Patients with liver disease or a history of liver problems should take this medication with caution, as it may worsen liver function. Patients with certain diseases or who are taking medications that may affect heart rhythm should use this medication cautiously. Patients taking medications that inhibit enzymes that metabolize drugs in the liver should also use this medication with caution. While taking this medication, side effects such as rapid heartbeat, drowsiness, nervousness, headache, indigestion, elevated liver enzymes, and skin rashes may occur; report any unusual symptoms to your doctor. Exercise caution when driving or operating dangerous machinery after taking this medication, and be sure to assess your bodily condition. This medication is not suitable for treating acute allergic reactions; when allergic symptoms are severe, alternative treatment should be sought. For seasonal allergies, it is recommended to start taking this medication before the time of year when allergies are likely to occur. Patients receiving long-term steroid treatment should gradually adjust their steroid dosage when taking this medication. Caution should be exercised when taking it along with other antihistamines, as it may increase effectiveness. Taking it in conjunction with certain antibiotics or antifungals may elevate the blood concentration of this medication, increasing the risk of side effects. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should cautiously take this medication only if necessary, as its safety is not established.
