This medication helps improve gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, dyspepsia, nausea, and vomiting caused by gastroesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, and gastric and duodenal inflammation and ulcers. It also alleviates symptoms caused by irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon. In children, it is effective in treating habitual vomiting as well as non-infectious intestinal pain and disorders such as constipation and diarrhea. Overall, this medication is used to improve dysfunction of the digestive system and related symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults: Take 100-200 mg of Trimebutine Maleate orally three times a day before meals. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose; therefore, it should not be used in patients with genetic disorders such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. When taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation or diarrhea, abdominal bloating, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, and oral numbness may occur rarely. Additionally, cardiovascular anomalies such as rapid heartbeat may occur rarely. Neurological side effects such as fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, and headaches may also occur rarely. Since liver function-related test values may temporarily increase, caution regarding liver health is advised. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes may occur; if such symptoms arise, discontinue use and consult a physician. Pregnant women or women who could become pregnant are advised to take this medication only when the treatment benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been adequately established. Lactating women should also avoid this medication if possible, and if it must be taken, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding.
