This medication is used to relieve symptoms caused by allergic reactions such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, dermatitis, and chronic urticaria.

How to take

Adult dose

Adults and children over 12 years should take 10mg of Ebastine orally once daily. Adjust appropriately based on age and symptoms.

Child dose

For children aged 6-11 years, administer 5mg once daily of this medication.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose, which may cause hypersensitivity reactions such as diarrhea in children or adolescents who are sensitive to lactose; therefore, consult a doctor if symptoms occur. Patients with allergic reactions to this medication or severely impaired liver function should not use it. Patients with liver function issues or a history of liver problems should be cautious as their liver condition may worsen when taking this medication. Patients taking certain medications or having specific diseases that may affect heart rhythm should use this medication cautiously, especially those at risk of cardiac arrhythmias. Taking this medication with certain antibiotics or antifungals that inhibit enzymes that metabolize drugs in the liver may increase the blood concentration of this medication. Consult your physician. Rare side effects such as rapid heartbeat, drowsiness, headache, dyspepsia, elevated liver enzymes, and skin rash may occur; inform healthcare professionals if symptoms appear. When performing tasks requiring concentration, like driving or operating machinery, ensure to check your condition after taking this medication for drowsiness or impaired concentration. This medication is not intended for rapid relief of allergy symptoms and is not suitable for treating acute allergic reactions. For seasonal allergy symptoms, it's recommended to start taking the medication before symptoms begin and to continue until symptoms resolve. Patients undergoing long-term steroid treatment should gradually adjust steroid dosages under the supervision of healthcare professionals while taking this medication. Taking this medication with other antihistamines may enhance its effect, so inform your physician if you are taking any other medications. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication cautiously, as its safety has not been established, and breastfeeding should be discontinued due to the possibility of the drug transferring into breast milk. The safety of this medication has not been established in children under 6 years of age, hence its use is not recommended. Taking this medication prior to allergy tests may affect test results, so it should be discontinued before testing.
