Relief of allergy symptoms such as urticaria and allergic rhinitis
This medicine is used for allergy-related diseases such as urticaria, hay fever, allergic rhinitis, eczema, pruritus, angioedema, and conjunctivitis.
For mequitazine, administer 5 mg orally twice a day. Adjust dose appropriately based on age and symptoms.
For mequitazine, administer 1.25 mg orally per day per 5 kg of body weight. Adjust dose appropriately based on age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to phenothiazine drugs or similar compounds. Patients with glaucoma or lower urinary tract obstruction diseases such as benign prostatic hyperplasia should also not take this medication. Patients in a comatose state or those who are heavily administered central nervous system depressants, those taking MAO inhibitors, or patients with epilepsy should avoid this medication. It is safer for patients with hepatitis, those with a history of allergies, and pediatric patients under 2 years of age not to use this medication. Patients with renal or liver dysfunction, peptic ulcer patients, acute alcohol intoxication patients, and those with hematological disorders should use this medication with caution. Patients with asthma or bronchial disorders, those with a history of sleep apnea, and elderly individuals also need to exercise caution. This medication can rarely cause side effects such as rash, skin allergic reactions, liver function abnormalities, bleeding symptoms due to thrombocytopenia, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and palpitations. If these symptoms occur, discontinuation should be immediate and a consultation with a physician is necessary. Drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, thus it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not use this medication, and nursing mothers should stop breastfeeding while using it. The safety of this medication in children has not been sufficiently established, thus special care is required. When taken with other central nervous system depressants, antidepressants, antihypertensive agents, or alcohol, interactions may increase, hence consultation with a physician is essential before use. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as lethargy and vomiting may appear, and appropriate medical attention should be sought immediately.
