Improvement of chronic arterial occlusive disease (ulcers, pain, etc.) and prevention of recurrent cerebral infarction
This medication is used to improve ischemic symptoms such as ulcers, pain, and cold sensation due to chronic arterial occlusive disease. It is also effective in preventing recurrence after cerebral infarction. Therefore, it helps to relieve symptoms caused by blood circulation issues and prevent the recurrence of stroke.
As cilostazol, the usual adult dose is 100mg taken orally twice a day. Dosage may be adjusted based on age and symptoms.
This medication may increase heart rate and could cause symptoms of angina, so careful observation is necessary for symptoms such as chest pain. It is safest not to use this medication in patients with a risk of bleeding, those who have recently had a hemorrhagic stroke or surgery. Patients with congestive heart failure or a history of allergic reactions to this medication, as well as women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, should also refrain from using it. Patients taking anticoagulants or antiplatelet agents, women during menstruation, and patients with heart disease should be cautious when using this medication. Patients with severely impaired kidney or liver function, those with diabetes, and patients with hypertension must also be carefully managed when taking this medication. Serious side effects may occur, such as bleeding, blood disorders, interstitial pneumonia, heart problems, etc., thus any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. Dizziness, headache, dyspepsia, skin rash, and other side effects may occur, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. This medication is metabolized in the liver, and its blood concentration may change when taken with certain drugs, hence caution for drug interactions is necessary. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid taking this medication, and women who may become pregnant must ensure safety before use. The safety has not been sufficiently proven for children, including infants and low birth weight babies, thus use should be approached cautiously. Elderly individuals may experience diminished physical function, so dosage adjustments and care are necessary. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as headache, diarrhea, hypotension, and rapid heartbeat may appear, requiring immediate medical attention. Caution is required as this medication may increase heart rate when used with drugs that lower blood pressure.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash accompanied by high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, abnormal respiration with cough+fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy throughout the body, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, urination issues
