Effectiveness in dental block and infiltration anesthesia
This medication is used for nerve block anesthesia and infiltration anesthesia during dental procedures. Nerve block anesthesia involves directly injecting the drug into the nerve to block sensation over a wide area, while infiltration anesthesia primarily injects the drug into the tissues surrounding the tooth to locally numb sensation. These two forms of anesthesia effectively reduce pain during dental treatments.
For nerve block or infiltration anesthesia, use 6-40 mg (as this drug 0.3-2 mL) of lidocaine hydrochloride. In the oral surgery area, use 60-100 mg (as this drug 3-5 mL) of lidocaine hydrochloride.
This drug is used for epidural anesthesia and should not be administered to certain patients. For example, it should not be used in patients with significant bleeding or in shock, patients with inflammation at the injection site or nearby, and patients with sepsis. Additionally, it should not be given to patients who are allergic to this drug or similar local anesthetics, have hypersensitivity to vasoconstrictors, or have conditions such as hypertension, arteriosclerosis, heart failure, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, or vasospasm. There are also patients who require cautious administration. This includes patients with central nervous system disorders, pregnant women, elderly patients, patients with severe spinal deformities, patients using certain inhalational anesthetics, and patients taking tricyclic antidepressants or MAO inhibitors. This medication contains potassium metabisulfite, which can cause allergic reactions or asthma attacks, so special caution is needed for asthmatic patients. Side effects may include shock, malignant hyperthermia, and abnormal central nervous system symptoms; therefore, patients should be closely monitored during administration. If there are signs of hypotension, pulse changes, or respiratory depression, administration should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be given. If malignant hyperthermia symptoms occur, administration should be promptly discontinued and professional treatment is necessary. Symptoms of the central nervous system may include tremors, seizures, drowsiness, anxiety, and dizziness, which should be monitored closely. When using this medication, preparedness for immediate emergency treatment is crucial, and the minimal effective dose should be used, avoiding direct injection into the bloodstream. The injection rate should also be slow to reduce the risk of side effects. It is particularly safe to secure venous access beforehand during epidural anesthesia. For pregnant or nursing women, the safety of this drug has not been fully established, so it should only be administered when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks. In nursing mothers, although components of this drug may be present in small amounts in breast milk, the effects on the infant are not clear and should be carefully considered. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the components in this drug, so their condition should be carefully monitored and dosage adjusted if necessary. Lastly, this drug should not be used for ophthalmic purposes.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This drug should be stored in a sealed container to prevent air and moisture penetration. It is recommended to maintain a storage temperature below 25 degrees Celsius at room temperature to ensure the medication's effectiveness and safety.
