This medication is used to improve gastrointestinal functional abnormalities such as symptoms of abdominal pain or dyspepsia due to esophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, gastritis, and duodenitis or ulcers, as well as nausea and vomiting. It also alleviates bowel-related symptoms caused by irritable bowel syndrome and spastic colon and is effective for habitual vomiting in children and non-infectious intestinal passage disorders such as constipation and diarrhea. It helps treat various gastrointestinal diseases and symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

For trimebutine maleate, orally administer 100-200mg three times a day before meals. Adjust the dosage appropriately according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication contains lactose and should not be used by individuals who have genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Rarely, the medication may cause gastrointestinal issues such as constipation, diarrhea, noises in the abdomen, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, dry mouth, and a feeling of numbness in the tongue. Additionally, symptoms of rapid heartbeat may occur rarely. There may also be infrequent effects on the psychiatric and nervous systems, leading to fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, lethargy, or headaches. In relation to liver function, rare cases of increased liver enzyme levels have been reported. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes may occur, and if such symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued immediately. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should use this medication only if the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been fully established. Lactating women should also avoid using this medication as its safety has not been confirmed, and if necessary, discontinuing breastfeeding is recommended. Finally, this medication contains the dye Yellow No. 4, so caution should be exercised by those who are allergic or sensitive to this component.
