View approved original text

This medication is primarily used for the management of essential hypertension. It is also effective in patients with heart failure who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors, particularly those in NYHA class II to IV. Additionally, it helps reduce the mortality risk in patients with left ventricular dysfunction or systolic dysfunction after a myocardial infarction, thereby improving the patient's heart health.

Essential hypertension: Take with water during meals or between meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). For all adult patients, the recommended dose of Valsartan is 80 mg orally once daily, regardless of gender or race. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled, the dose may be increased to 160 mg once daily, or a diuretic may be added, with a maximum dose of 320 mg possible. Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Do not take this medication if you have had an allergic reaction to it or if you have severe liver or kidney disease. Elderly patients, those with high potassium levels in the blood, or patients with impaired liver function should use this medication with caution, and dosages may need to be adjusted as necessary. Due to its blood pressure-lowering effect, caution is required at the outset as sudden drops in blood pressure may cause dizziness or fainting. Patients with heart failure or those after a myocardial infarction may be affected by kidney function, thus regular monitoring is required. Blood pressure, kidney function, and serum potassium levels should be periodically checked for abnormalities during the use of this medication. Interactions may occur if taken with other antihypertensive drugs, diuretics, or potassium-sparing medications; consult a physician or pharmacist. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised not to use this medication, and if it must be used, breastfeeding should be discontinued. The safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been established, so it should be avoided in this age group. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or decreased consciousness may occur; immediate medical attention is required. Store this medication out of reach of children and do not transfer it to another container for safety. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery as dizziness may occur.
