Essential hypertension: The recommended starting dose and maintenance dose is 8 to 16 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil orally once a day. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 4 weeks of treatment at 16 mg once a day, the dose may be increased up to a maximum of 32 mg once a day. In patients with intravascular volume depletion and those with kidney or liver impairment, the initial doses should be adjusted to 4 mg, 4 mg, and 2 mg respectively.

This medication is primarily used to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. Additionally, it is effective in patients with heart failure and impaired left ventricular systolic function, particularly those categorized as NYHA class II to IV with a left ventricular ejection fraction of 40% or less. This medication is beneficial for patients who require additional therapy to ACE inhibitors or who have poor tolerance to ACE inhibitors. It contributes to improving heart function and alleviating symptoms in these patients. Therefore, this drug is used for treating hypertension and heart failure related to left ventricular dysfunction.

How to take

Adult dose

Essential hypertension: The recommended starting dose and maintenance dose is 8 to 16 mg of Candesartan Cilexetil orally once a day. If blood pressure is not adequately controlled after 4 weeks of treatment at 16 mg once a day, the dose may be increased up to a maximum of 32 mg once a day. Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, particularly in the second and third trimesters, and should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy.
