This medication is used to treat infections caused by the herpes simplex virus, specifically initial and recurrent genital herpes and oral herpes that appears around the lips. It is effective against this viral infection that causes blisters, itching, and pain. Treatment helps to quickly relieve symptoms and prevent recurrence. Therefore, this medication is used to improve and treat symptoms related to herpes simplex.

How to use

Adult use

Apply to the affected area 5 times a day at approximately 4-hour intervals. Continue treatment for 5 days; if not healed after 5 days of use, it can be used for an additional 5 days.

Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic or hypersensitive to this drug or its components. It should also not be administered to breastfeeding women and children. It must be used with caution in patients with weakened immune systems, such as those with AIDS or bone marrow transplant recipients, and those allergic to propylene glycol, which is included in this medication. When applied, ulcers in the genital area may cause pain or discomfort when pressed, and side effects such as temporary burning or stinging sensation, skin rash, itching, swelling, or changes in skin color may occur. Treatment should begin as soon as symptoms appear, and the prescribed dosage and administration must be strictly followed; it should not be used by asymptomatic individuals. Additionally, it should not be used for infection prevention, nor mixed or diluted with other drugs. This medication is for topical use only and should be kept away from the eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. When applying, gloves or finger cots should be worn to prevent spreading to other areas or infecting others.
