Improvement of gastric ulcers and gastric mucosal lesions, relief of excessive stomach acid symptoms
This medicine is effective for gastrointestinal disorders such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also administered for preventive purposes before surgery to block Mendelson's syndrome and helps treat ulcers caused by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It improves gastric mucosal damage, erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling that occur during exacerbations of acute and chronic gastritis, and is used for upper gastrointestinal bleeding. It can also relieve burning sensations and regurgitation symptoms caused by excessive stomach acid, helping to improve gastric health. Thus, it effectively treats and improves various gastrointestinal disorders and symptoms.
For an adult, the dosage is 150 mg orally twice daily, in the morning and at bedtime. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers: For adults, it may be taken as 150 mg orally twice daily or 300 mg once daily at bedtime. In particular, patients with duodenal ulcers may take 300 mg twice daily, in the morning and at bedtime, for a higher treatment rate. 2) Gastroesophageal reflux disease:
Children aged 8 to 18 years may receive a dose of 150 mg (2 mg per kg of body weight) up to twice daily.
This medication should not be used in patients who have had an allergic reaction to any component of the drug or in patients with a history of acute porphyria. In patients with impaired kidney function, this medication may remain in the body for an extended period, so it should be used cautiously by reducing the dose or prolonging the dosing interval. Careful attention is necessary for patients with weak liver function, those with a history of drug allergies, the elderly, and those taking NSAIDs. This medication may mask the symptoms of stomach cancer, so patients with gastric ulcers or those who have recently developed or changed dyspeptic symptoms, especially those over middle age, should confirm malignancy before using it. Patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers due to Helicobacter pylori must receive concurrent treatment to eliminate this bacterium. While taking this medication, rare but serious allergic reactions, blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, heart issues, gastrointestinal symptoms, neurological issues, muscle pain, skin rashes, etc., may occur, and if symptoms appear, immediate consultation with a doctor is required. During treatment, regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests should be performed to monitor the condition. The elderly or patients with chronic lung disease, diabetes, or weakened immunity should be cautious, as this medication may increase the risk of pneumonia. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs, it is safer to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. This medication may affect the absorption or excretion of other drugs, so if other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform the doctor or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the benefits and risks of using this medication, and nursing mothers should also consult a doctor before taking it. Safety has not been sufficiently established for children, so caution is needed. No particularly severe problems have been reported in cases of overdose, but appropriate treatment such as vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary.
