Improvement of gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastric mucosal lesions (erosion, bleeding, etc.)
This medication is effective for various gastrointestinal diseases such as ulcers of the stomach and duodenum, gastroesophageal reflux disease, recurrent ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used to improve symptoms such as erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling of the gastric mucosa that occur during acute exacerbations of acute and chronic gastritis. It helps in the treatment of various gastric-related diseases and symptom relief.
For cimetidine, 400 mg once, twice a day (morning and bedtime) or 800 mg once a day (at bedtime). It can also be administered as 300 mg four times a day (after meals and at bedtime). The dosage may be increased to 400 mg four times a day (after meals and at bedtime) (total 1.6 g). For improvement of gastric mucosal lesions, administer 200 mg twice a day or 400 mg once a day.
Administer 20~40 mg divided doses per kg of body weight per day.
This medicine should be cut carefully, especially when used for children or the elderly, as glass fragments may enter the solution when cutting the container of glass ampoule injections. Patients who have hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in this medication, or have a history of such reactions, should not take this medication. Additionally, it should not be administered to patients taking Dofetilide, which may increase the risk of certain heart conditions. Since it contains lactose, patients with genetic metabolic disorders such as galactose intolerance should not take this medication. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function may have increased drug concentration and should use with caution by adjusting the dosage or extending the intervals. Elderly patients, children under 19 years of age, and patients undergoing hemodialysis require special caution when using this medication. This medication may mask the symptoms of gastric cancer, thus it is advisable to confirm malignancy before administering. Patients with Helicobacter pylori infection and gastric or duodenal ulcers should undergo bacterial eradication therapy concurrently. Rarely, this medication may cause decreased blood cell count, abnormal liver function, kidney dysfunction, and hypersensitivity reactions; if symptoms arise, consult a healthcare professional immediately. Endocrine side effects such as gynecomastia, increased milk secretion, and erectile dysfunction have also been reported, and administration should be discontinued upon the appearance of these symptoms. Nervous system side effects such as indigestion, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, and mental confusion may also occur, requiring careful monitoring for abnormal signs. Regular blood, liver, and kidney function tests should be performed during the use of this medication, and appropriate measures should be taken if symptoms worsen. There are many drug interactions with this medication, particularly when taken with anticoagulants, antidepressants, antiarrhythmics, calcium channel blockers, antifungals, etc., which may require dosage adjustment or discontinuation. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established; it should only be taken when absolutely necessary. Nursing mothers should avoid breastfeeding while taking this medication. Due to limited experience in children, caution should be exercised when administering. Elderly patients may require dosage reduction or increased intervals due to impaired kidney function. In cases of overdose, serious symptoms like respiratory depression may occur; immediate medical attention must be sought. When used as an injection, rapid intravenous administration should be avoided, and it should be injected slowly to reduce the risk of side effects. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container may cause a decline in quality, so caution is needed.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, asthma attack, respiratory abnormalities with cough and fever, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, urination.
