Dosage

Oral: Chlorpheniramine maleate at a dose of 2-6 mg, taken by mouth 2-4 times daily. Do not exceed 24 mg per day. Injection: Chlorpheniramine maleate at a dose of 5-10 mg, administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or intravenously 1-2 times daily.

Precautions

This medication is in injectable form and should be carefully cut when using glass ampoules to avoid glass fragments mixing in. Extra caution is required, especially when used in children and the elderly. The benzyl alcohol contained in this medication can cause serious respiratory problems in premature infants, so it should not be administered to premature or newborn infants. This medication may cause drowsiness, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Caution should be taken as combining this medication with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may increase drowsiness. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this medication cautiously as its safety has not been established, and it should only be used when necessary. Special attention must be paid to children as overdosing can lead to hallucinations, agitation, seizures, and in severe cases, death. In elderly patients with potentially diminished bodily functions, careful monitoring is necessary during administration. In cases of overdose, serious side effects on the central nervous system and heart may occur, requiring immediate medical attention.
