I visited a dermatology clinic after developing red, raised hives around my arms and neck, along with increasingly severe itching. In the consultation room, I explained when the symptoms first appeared and what situations made the itching worse, and the doctor took a close look at the rash on my skin. They compared the swollen, reddened areas with the surrounding skin to check how far the rash had spread and assess my skin condition. I was also asked whether I had recently eaten any new foods, used any new cosmetics, or taken any medications. After the consultation, I was told what to watch out for when the hives appeared and how to take the prescribed medication. I was also advised not to touch or scratch my skin as much as possible because scratching could make the irritation worse. I also learned that if my symptoms got worse or I developed difficulty breathing or swelling of my lips or tongue, I should seek emergency medical care immediately.
