This is a very personal review based on my own experience and money. Everyone’s experience is different and relative, so please keep that in mind when reading this review. I, the writer, am a very rational person. As you can tell from my other reviews, I have clear likes and dislikes, and I leave even negative reviews without sugarcoating them == So for me to leave a positive review...!! - To give you the conclusion first, this is a very ethical dermatology clinic! With no unnecessary treatment! They examine you carefully and answer your questions sincerely.. I’ve never seen a dermatology clinic like this before, haha. The dermatology clinics we commonly know these days seem to focus mostly on cosmetic procedures, don’t they? When you look at the building from outside, it seems like they take up an entire floor.... It even makes you wonder, “Do they actually fill all that up with revenue?” Such pointless thoughts crossed my mind, haha. I didn’t go there to get a cosmetic procedure. So my experience may be different from that of patients or customers getting procedures, so please keep that in mind- I went in to be treated for a dermatitis flare-up. The biggest reason I chose this clinic was that the problem was on an intimate area rather than ordinary skin, and I noticed they had a female doctor. One advantage of this dermatology clinic is that it has one male director and one female director~ These days, it seems hard to find female doctors in any department, so keep that in mind^^ I had visited another dermatology clinic in a different neighborhood several times for the same symptoms, but my skin had become red and burned (almost like a burn), so I wasn’t supposed to expose it to heat. Still, in addition to basic treatment, they gave me a skin laser light treatment (the one that shoots red electricity?). When I checked the detailed billing, the basic treatment itself didn’t cost much, but adding the light treatment made the total much more expensive.. When the red rash didn’t improve, I went back again. They gave me the red electric heat light treatment I mentioned above, and when I said it was itchy this time, they additionally applied Vaseline and covered it with gauze. I went home like that, but since the gauze stayed on during the trip from the clinic to my house, there was no ventilation, and my skin became even worse.. And since I was only there for a basic dermatology consultation, I was seen in between patients who had scheduled procedures, so I had to wait well over an hour. Ah!!! This hospital wasn’t going to work. I needed to find another dermatology clinic. That’s how I ended up visiting Doctors Dermatology, Gwangju Shinsegae branch!! I’m quite picky in my own way, haha. 1) I choose a clinic with a board-certified specialist, not a general physician. 2) I look at the medical staff’s experience. 1) Both the male and female directors have PhDs in medicine, 2) and they also have experience at university hospitals. Personally, I focused on those two things when looking into the doctors’ backgrounds before visiting. (The main male director even passed the U.S. medical licensing exam!) I’ve visited three or four times so far, and every time I was happy that the wait wasn’t long. I showed the rash to the female director, and she seemed ready to prescribe medication rather than perform another treatment. I asked her first if she could do a treatment, and when I asked what options were available, she mentioned simple treatment (using saline-soaked gauze) and the laser light treatment I had received at the other dermatology clinic. (My affected area had become red and burned from the heat, with slight peeling, pain, a rash, and itching.) “Doesn’t that produce heat? Right... It does have some heat, I suppose.” “Then would it be okay if I just received the basic treatment without the laser light—the one that uses the red electricity?” “Yes, I’ll prescribe medication along with it.” What I felt at this point was that she had wanted to treat me with medication first, and I was the one who brought up the treatment. She listened carefully to my request and reflected it in my care. At least from my perspective, I could feel her kindness and consideration for the patient. She didn’t have that typical authoritarian doctor attitude. She could easily have thought that I was being overly demanding by asking so many detailed questions and making requests, but she didn’t at all. Some doctors make patients feel embarrassed and uncomfortable when they ask questions or speak up, to the point that they can’t even bring up what they want to say. (You’ve all experienced that, right? lol) If they wanted to make money, they could have given me the laser light treatment and said that it was safe enough for my skin, especially since the other dermatology clinic had done it... I was genuinely moved. You might say it’s silly to be moved by something so minor, but it had been a long time since I’d seen a place that was not merely kind, but tailored treatment to the patient’s symptoms without overtreatment, understood the patient’s requests, and prescribed the appropriate care.. While writing this, I wondered, “Am I the only one who feels so positively about them?” So I looked up reviews of the Doctors Shinsegae branch, and sure enough... I wasn’t the only one. Other people who had visited this place felt exactly the same way. Both directors examined patients very carefully, didn’t treat skin conditions casually, and the wait wasn’t long. I felt that their experiences were so similar to mine that I was touched! That must mean these two directors treat every patient consistently! I respect them. Honestly, even we can become less kind and lose sight of our original intentions when we do the same work every day, but they haven’t become like that. Ha ha. Looking at another review, someone said that when they asked about laser treatments and obesity treatment, the nurses or coordinators didn’t try to sell them anything. They explained the pros and cons without strongly recommending anything, lol. Are they not trying to make money..? Hahahaha These days, hospitals are businesses too. They have to sell and promote their services. A simple dermatitis patient like me, who only received basic treatment and paid very little (under 5,000 won), probably isn’t the kind of patient any clinic would be excited to see.. But they sincerely examined me and took a close look at the affected area.. Thank you, director of Doctors Dermatology, Shinsegae branch~ As an aside, it’s not really my concern, but there aren’t an overwhelming number of patients, and the wait isn’t long. Maybe it’s because they treat people ethically without unnecessary procedures, haha. There are a reasonable number of patients. Even when around 10 people are waiting, it doesn’t take long. I love it, haha. I’ll be going often~ + They accept the Gwangju Sangsaeng Card!!! Bring yours with you, haha. The interior is clean and spacious. Maybe they’re not that interested in making a lot of money.. The display shelves only have Cell Fusion C lotions and creams, and there’s no Aestura. I thought they didn’t sell Aestura products, but when I asked separately, they said they do sell them.. You have to put them out where patients can see them if you want them to know about them and buy them!! I visited on a day when the female director wasn’t seeing patients, so here’s my review after being seen by the male director! Maybe he noticed that I was embarrassed or shy about showing an intimate area, because he examined me verbally and treated me without having me show it directly. (I had already been treated by the female director several times~) The male director also examined me sincerely and with great care, just as expected. The male director is very sharp and straightforward! He explained clearly and sensibly how often to apply the ointment and how to take care of the area!! Maybe it’s because the doctors are so nice, but the relationship between the staff and the directors also seemed good. The nurses were kind and quick, too. These days, the nurses at every hospital usually appear friendly on the surface, and of course everyone here was friendly as well. For those who visit Doctors Dermatology, Shinsegae branch after reading this positive review, I hope you have a good consultation and treatment experience.
