Dosage and Administration

The initial dose is trazodone hydrochloride 150 mg orally once a day, increasing by 50 mg every 3-4 days. Outpatients should not exceed 400 mg per day, and hospitalized patients (with severe depression) should not exceed 600 mg per day. This medication must be administered after meals or snacks.

Precautions

This drug is an antidepressant mainly used for the treatment of psychiatric disorders such as depression. This drug is not approved for use in children and adolescents under 18 years old, and there may be an increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior in young adults (ages 18 to 24), so careful judgment by a physician and vigilant monitoring are necessary. This medication may cause withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, headache, anxiety, sleep disturbances, etc., if discontinued suddenly, so it is safer to taper off gradually when stopping the medication. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before taking this medication, and it is advisable to avoid taking it while breastfeeding or to discontinue breastfeeding if possible.
