- We begin consultations with diagnostic imaging It is difficult to determine where and how much pigmentation is present by looking at the skin alone. That is why I first photograph the skin with a diagnostic device before deciding on a treatment. When images are taken using multiple light sources, including ultraviolet and polarized light, features that appear overlapped in a single photograph become distinguishable. We can see where melanin pigmentation is distributed and whether facial redness and dilated blood vessels are also present. It is not uncommon for melasma to be accompanied by facial redness. If treatment focuses only on the pigmentation, the remaining redness may lead to dissatisfaction. This is why we examine these issues separately. - Medical Director Choi Tae-sik I graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine, obtained a medical license in New York State, and practiced in Queens, New York for many years. While treating American, German, and East Asian patients, I learned how laser responses vary according to skin tone. This is why treatment settings are adjusted for each individual, even when the pigmentation appears the same. I completed a dermatology laser training program at the Laser Institute of America and became a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), where I was appointed as a fellow.
