Genetics influences the rate of aging. However, lifestyle habits also play a role. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and exercising regularly can help slow aging. Laughing frequently during the day and getting a good night's sleep are key. There are also things to avoid: alcohol and cigarettes are a given. The American health and nutrition media outlet "EatThis, NotThat" outlines other things to avoid if you want to live younger than your age.

 

Looking at your phone for a long time in bad posture

 

The problem isn't the phone itself. It's the prolonged sitting or lying down with poor posture while looking at your phone. Slouching can make you look older than your age. It can also cause muscle and joint pain. Set an alarm and get up and move around at least once every 90 minutes. This applies whether you're working or watching TV.

Don't let negative emotions like anger, regret, and resentment build up. They can lead to premature aging and even a heart attack.

Sugar-laden carbonated drinks are a major contributor to obesity and aging. Drinking a glass of cola sends a surge of sugar into your body in just seconds. This causes cellular aging and negatively impacts metabolism. Studies have even shown that frequent drinkers of sugary carbonated drinks are at a higher risk of developing metabolic disorders.
