But walking incorrectly can damage your body in an instant. In the past, I used to walk steadily 30,000 steps a day. However, my knees and ankles started to hurt sporadically from some day. Since the pain wasn't constant but occasional, I pushed myself to keep walking, and for a while, I had to rely on an orthopedic doctor because of my knees.
Currently, I walk around 20,000 steps on average per month, wearing comfortable sneakers. On days when I walk less, I reach about 10,000 steps, and sometimes I even exceed 30,000 steps. Even if I reduce my walking, I still walk a lot, so I have no chance to gain weight.
The recommended number of steps per day is 8,000 steps. 8,000 steps can be completed in about an hour and a half. Since there are also walking steps in daily life, taking just about an hour to walk makes it easy to do aerobic exercise.
Listening to music while walking makes my steps feel lighter. (The song "Stone" by National Steel I heard on my way to work today.) Usually, I listen to music, but sometimes I walk without it, and I hear sounds I don't usually notice, which feels refreshing.
