Review of getting a Mammotome procedure at Gangnam CHA Hospital after much deliberation
This is a review of the Mammotome procedure I received at Gangnam CHA Hospital after much deliberation.
First of all, the reason I visited the hospital is...
I felt a small lump the size of a grain of rice near my armpit.
I have never had a breast ultrasound before, so I decided to get the test done while I was at it.
I had an examination and found out that I had a lump.
I have several small cysts larger than 1cm on my left breast...!
The first hospital I went to immediately recommended Mammotome treatment.
There are some cysts that do not necessarily need to be removed, and
In some cases, if immediate surgery is not necessary, follow-up examinations are sufficient.
If the shape is not good or
I heard that if the size is 2cm or larger, they often perform a Mammotome.
The reason I was hesitating about the procedure was
A Mammotome isn't a simple surgery that you just get done because the hospital suggests it.
There are also doctors who say that it is not absolutely necessary to have a mammotome.
When looking up reviews, do not decide on the procedure immediately at the first clinic.
They told me to make sure to visit another hospital as well.
I was told that if I get the procedure, the insurance might exclude it later.
I also visited two other hospitals.
They said that one place is still safe to watch.
I went to another place, and they recommended a Mammotome.
The shape wasn't good, and they explained in detail why it had to be done.
Since the third hospital mentioned Mammotome again
Ah, I thought I should do it.
The reason I chose Gangnam Cha Hospital is
I selected a few hospitals famous for breast surgery and received consultations.
I had it done at Gangnam Cha Hospital, which gave the most thorough explanation among them.
As many patients have already visited and there are many reviews,
Cha Hospital gave a really detailed explanation!
I was really nervous because it was my first time having such a major procedure or surgery.
The cost was quite steep, so I didn't feel relieved.
The doctor said that due to the physical structure of Asians, almost all women have dense breasts.
A person with symptoms such as lumps, cysts, or microcalcifications in the chest
It is said to be much more common than people without symptoms.
They also reassured me not to worry too much.
And as expected of a large hospital, the manual is very systematic, and
Please answer all my questions kindly, even if I ask a lot.
I realized why so many people go to Cha Hospital.
This is the Mammotome procedure.
The procedure is ultrasound confirmation -> anesthesia injection -> surgery -> hemostasis -> transfer to the hospital room.
The surgery took about 20 or 30 minutes.
After the surgery, I received an injection in my buttocks and an IV drip of painkillers.
I also wear a compression bra.
It is wrapped tightly in bandages inside.
The difficulties after the surgery
That compression bandage was really, really uncomfortable.
If you do not stop the bleeding properly, a hematoma or bruise may form.
I absolutely had to put on a bandage, and that was really suffocating.
I saw a lot of reviews saying the bandages were difficult, but it was harder than I expected.
I endured it for as long as I could, but I absolutely couldn't take it anymore, so I had the bandage replaced with a different shape the next day.
Those of you scheduled for a Mammotome procedure, please be prepared for the discomfort of compression bandages...
I was discharged the very next day after admission.
I had the stitches removed a week later.
And the surgical scar lasted quite a long time.
Number 1 is the biopsy site, and the yellow part is a bruise.
Number 2 is a knife scar; it's gone now, but surgical scars really last a long time.
Fortunately, the final biopsy results showed it was a fibroma!
I have been consistently going for regular checkups since the procedure, and currently, there are no lumps or other abnormalities.
Looking back, at the time I was worried and debated whether to do it or not, but
I feel so relieved to hear that there were no abnormalities in the tests after the procedure.
It feels like I was in a past life worrying so much about the Mammotome back then, haha.
I'm doing really well now.
Even though Mammotome is a simple procedure,
When I actually received it, I realized there were quite a few things to pay attention to, such as muscle pain, compression bandages, sleeping position, and care.
Is there anyone here who is monitoring a breast lump?
If anyone is considering a Mammotome
I would like to advise you to visit a few other hospitals before making a decision.
If it is a situation where you have to do it, it is definitely better to do it.
Let's get regular breast checkups regardless of age or family history!
